Application:
Coagulant and Flocculant: Ferric chloride is widely used to remove impurities, particles, and contaminants from water and wastewater. It acts as a coagulant by destabilizing and aggregating suspended particles, and as a flocculant by encouraging these particles to clump together into larger, more easily removed flocs.
Phosphorus Removal: Ferric chloride effectively removes phosphates from wastewater by forming insoluble precipitates with phosphate ions. This is crucial for preventing eutrophication (excessive algae growth) in bodies of water.
pH Adjustment: Ferric chloride can also be used to adjust the pH of water, particularly when a decrease in pH is needed.
