Application:
Polymerization: DLP acts as an initiator for the polymerization of various monomers, including vinyl chloride, methyl methacrylate, and ethylene. It's often used in suspension polymerization, where it helps control the reaction and the properties of the resulting polymer.
Rubber Vulcanization: DLP is used to accelerate the curing process in the production of synthetic rubbers, improving their elasticity and heat resistance.
Plastics Modification: DLP can be used to modify the properties of polypropylene, enhancing its melt flow index through controlled degradation.
Other Applications: DLP also finds use in:
Bleaching agents: It can be used to degrade carotenoids in edible oils like palm and coconut oil.
Foaming agents: DLP can generate gases like nitrogen and carbon dioxide to create cellular structures in polymeric foams.
Drying catalysts: It can accelerate the drying process of alkyd paints and coatings.
Cosmetics: In some cases, DLP (or similar peroxides) is used in acne creams as an alternative to benzoyl peroxide
